How to distinguish between high-quality high-temperature resistant fireproof sleeves and inferior ones?
Fireproof sleeves are high-temperature protective sleeves widely used to protect cables, pipelines, and hydraulic
equipment in high-temperature environments. They are an essential material in modern high-temperature industries.
As everyone knows, fire-resistant sleeves are made of high-purity, alkali-free glass fiber with a high-quality silicone
rubber coating on the outer layer. Most available on the market are red, but other colors can be adjusted according to
customer needs. The following are some distinctions compiled by Antuo High-Temperature Protection Department
for your reference when purchasing.
First, once you have a fire-resistant sleeve, the first thing to check is the silicone coating on its surface. A high-quality
fire-resistant sleeve has a smooth surface with no pimples, bubbles, cracks, scratches, or impurities. A poor-quality
surface is uneven, with pimples, bubbles, and other impurities.
Next, look at the silicone coating and the inner glass fiber weave. In a high-quality fireproof sleeve, the inner glass fiber
weave is clean and orderly, with most fibers being white, and some slightly milky or pale yellow. In contrast, poor-quality
sleeves have loose, messy glass fiber weaving, with impure colors containing impurities.
After checking the construction, you can notice the smell of the sleeve. High-quality sleeves have no pungent odor,
whereas inferior ones have a strong odor which can be harmful to human health with prolonged inhalation.
Finally, you can test it with a lighter flame. The long-term working temperature of fireproof sleeves is 260°C, and the
instant temperature can reach 1650°C. During testing, low-quality fireproof sleeves emit a strong pungent odor and melt
immediately, while high-quality sleeves will char on the surface after 10-15 minutes under open flame, emitting a mild
odor, while the internal glass fibers remain intact. This is enough to distinguish the quality of fireproof sleeves.
Note: High-quality fireproof sleeves can fully protect pipelines, hydraulic equipment, and other devices during high
temperatures or direct flames, ensuring safety and normal use. In contrast, poor-quality sleeves can lead to unmeasurable
damage during fires and other hazards. When choosing fireproof sleeves, select the appropriate product.
