Hydropower Construction Process - Fireproof Conduit

Currently, the installation of water pipes in home decoration is mainly carried out by professional renovators.

However, many homeowners also wish to understand the construction techniques of water pipes to have a

clearer understanding of the installation process.

Fireproof Sleeve Installation Process:

1. Installation Preparation

Carefully study the drawings, referring to civil structural drawings, interior design drawings, and relevant

equipment specialty drawings, to check whether the coordinates and elevations of various pipelines intersect

and whether the space occupied by the pipeline layout is reasonable.   

Verify and inspect the dimensions of reserved openings according to the design drawings, and mark the pipeline

coordinates and elevation positions with lines for positioning.

2. Prefabrication

According to the requirements of the drawings and the actual situation, measure the dimensions based on the location of the reserved openings and draw a processing sketch. Measure the pipeline dimensions according to the sketch and cut the pipeline. The cut ends should be flush; use a milling cutter or scraper to remove any burrs from the inside and outside of the cut ends, and mill the outer edge to a 15° angle. Before bonding, test the socket and plug by inserting them; they should not be inserted fully, generally up to 3/4 of the socket depth. After confirming the plug passes the test, wipe off any moisture and dust from the areas to be bonded with the socket and plug using a cloth. If there is oil contamination, remove it with ethyl ketone. Apply adhesive with a brush, first to the socket and then to the plug, then insert the plug vertically with force. While inserting and bonding, gently rotate the plug to ensure the adhesive is evenly distributed; bonding takes approximately 30 seconds to one minute. Immediately wipe off any excess adhesive after curing.
3. Installation of Fireproof Sleeves:

(1) Based on the design positions of the piping system and sanitary equipment, and in accordance with the outlet dimensions of the equipment and the construction requirements of the drain openings, coordinate with the civil structure construction to reserve nozzles or fittings on walls, beams, and floors for pipes.

(2) Check the locations and dimensions of all reserved openings and ensure they are properly connected.

(3) Measure and mark according to the pipeline routing and the centerlines of each pipe segment, draw an as-measured layout diagram, and indicate dimensions in detail.

(4) Select qualified pipes and fittings based on the as-measured layout diagram for cutting. After prefabricating the pipe segments, verify the dimensions and orientations of fittings between nodes according to the layout diagram.

(5) Choose brackets and fixing methods according to specifications, and determine the size and quantity of the supports.

(6) After the walls are plastered, the materials and prefabricated pipe segments can be transported to the installation site. Install pipes and expansion joints sequentially according to the reserved connection positions and pipeline centerlines, connecting each nozzle.

(7) On floors where fire sleeves or fire collars need to be installed, place the fire sleeves or collars outside the pipe segments first, then connect the pipe joints.

(8) Pipe installation should be carried out layer by layer from bottom to top, installing vertical pipes first, followed by horizontal pipes, continuing sequentially.

(9) After the piping system installation is complete, recheck the appearance quality and installation dimensions of the pipes.

4. Pipeline Pressure Testing
Buried pipelines, vertical pipes in pipe wells, ceiling side branches, and pipes requiring condensation prevention should undergo a water filling test before being concealed. The water filling height should not be lower than the upper edge of the sanitary fixtures on the bottom floor or the ground of the bottom floor. After filling with water for 15 minutes, it should be refilled to full and observed for 5 minutes. In the water filling test for toilet branch pipes, if a water-sealing test is required on each floor, there are two methods for installing the airbag: one is to install the airbags simultaneously. During the final consolidated work, if there is an inspection port on the floor, the airbag should be installed above the inspection port; if there is no inspection port on the floor, the airbag should be connected to a 5-meter-long air tube (an oxygen tube may be used), and the airbag should be slowly moved from the upper inspection port.
